Steps

  1. Sign in or create an account

Paid plans attach to an account. On the /pricing page, a signed-out visitor sees Create account and Sign in buttons, and checkout opens straight after you return. If you press a plan button while signed out, you are sent to the account page first.

Tip: A password needs at least 10 characters.

  2. Open the Pricing page

Go to /pricing using the Pricing link in the site header. If you are already signed in, your account page also has an upgrade ladder that starts checkout for the next plans up, and a link to See all plans.

Tip: Prices are shown in US dollars.

  3. Choose a plan and billing period

The buttons read Start for $5/month (Starter), Choose Pro · monthly or Pro · $149 / year (Pro), and Choose Ops · annual (Ops). Enterprise has a Talk to us button that opens the contact form instead of checkout. Starter is monthly only, and Ops is annual only.

Tip: Only Pro lets you choose between monthly and yearly billing.

  4. Go through checkout

The button changes to Opening secure checkout… and takes you, in the same tab, to the payment provider's page. Enter your payment details. Cards and the wallet options your device supports are offered. You can enter a promotion code if you have one.

Tip: Tax is calculated at checkout, and you see the total before you confirm.

  5. Return to the instrument

After a successful payment you land back on /app. A brief message at the foot of the screen reads You're in. Starter active. It shows once per browser session and uses the same words whichever plan you bought, so treat it as a sign that checkout finished, not as the name of your plan.

Tip: If you close the tab early, open /app and sign in again.

  6. Check your plan on the account page

Open /account and look at the Plan section. It shows the plan name, a status and an Included in your plan list with your sites, forecast range and feature ticks. The plan changes when the payment provider confirms the payment, which normally takes seconds. If it still shows the old plan, refresh the page.

Tip: If it does not change after several minutes, read the plan-not-updated guide.

01Understanding the plans

There are four plans. Starter is $5 a month and includes 3 saved sites, a 7-day forecast, height-matched wind, exceedance odds, evidence records and the agent. Pro is $19 a month or $149 a year and adds 25 saved sites, a 16-day forecast, email alerts, the morning brief and API keys with 1,000 calls a day. Ops is $990 a year and adds 100 saved sites, the fleet board, public embed boards and 10,000 API calls a day. Enterprise has no listed price and covers 500 or more sites, 100,000 calls a day and dedicated onboarding. Each plan includes everything in the one below it. For a side by side view, see Plan comparison and limits.

02Monthly versus annual billing

Each plan is sold in one or two ways. Starter is monthly only, at $5. Pro is $19 monthly or $149 yearly, so the yearly option works out cheaper over twelve months. Ops is yearly only, at $990. The upgrade ladder on your account page offers Pro monthly only, so for the yearly Pro price use the Pricing page. The billing period decides how often you are charged. Cancelling stops further charges, and the plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.

03Payment and receipts

Checkout is run by a third-party payment provider, so your card details never go to The Wind Agent. Prices are in US dollars, and any VAT or sales tax is worked out at checkout from your billing country. Receipts are sent by the payment provider. The account page does not have a section called Billing. Instead, the Plan section has a Manage billing button, which opens the provider's portal where you can update your card, see invoices and cancel. The button appears once your account has a subscription. See Manage or cancel billing for the details.

04If checkout fails

If checkout cannot open, the button shows a message instead. Secure checkout could not be opened or Secure checkout is temporarily unavailable mean the payment provider did not answer, so try again in a few minutes. Billing opens shortly with a note that your account is saved means billing is not ready to open yet. If you are signed out, you are asked to create an account or sign in first. If you cancel on the provider's page, you return to /pricing with a note that nothing was charged.

05Enterprise plan enrolment

Enterprise does not go through checkout and does not need an account first. Press Talk to us on the Enterprise card of the /pricing page to open the contact form with the Enterprise topic selected, and describe your operation. The team then discusses site numbers, API volume and onboarding with you.

Questions

How long does it take for my plan to update after payment?

The plan changes when the payment provider confirms the payment to The Wind Agent, which normally takes a few seconds. The page does not refresh itself, so reload the account page if it still shows the old plan. The message on /app only says checkout finished and always reads Starter, so rely on the account page. My plan has not updated covers delays.

Can I switch plans after upgrading?

You can move up from the upgrade ladder on your account page or from the Pricing page, each of which opens a new checkout. There is no downgrade button on the account page. To stop a plan, use Manage billing and cancel; it stays active until the end of the paid period and nothing more is charged. After any plan change, check the Plan section to confirm which plan and status are shown.

What happens if my payment method expires?

Update your card in the provider's portal, which you open with the Manage billing button in the Plan section of your account page. If a payment cannot be taken, the subscription status changes, and where billing limits are switched on, features that need a paid plan, such as saving sites, can be blocked until it is fixed.

Do I get a trial period with any paid plan?

There is no standing free trial, and the product does not advertise one. The operator can switch on a trial for the Starter monthly plan, up to 90 days, and if one applies you see it on the checkout page before you pay. If you see no trial there, there is none. The instrument at /app is free to use without an account.

Where can I find more details about what each plan offers?

The /pricing page lists each plan's features and has a What each plan includes table covering saved sites, forecast range, alerts, fleet board and API calls. Your own account page lists what your current plan includes. For a written comparison, see Plan comparison and limits.
