Steps

  1. Open your Account page

Go to /account while signed in. If you are signed out you will see the sign-in form instead, so sign in first. The signed-in page is headed "Account & presets" and lists Profile, Plan, Display preferences, Saved sites and API keys, in that order.

  2. Find the Plan section

There is no section called Billing. Billing lives in the Plan section, which shows your plan name and a Status line. For a Starter account that has not been paid for, the status reads "unpaid" and there is a "Start for $5/month" button instead of anything to manage.

  3. Press Manage billing

Where an active subscription exists, the Plan section shows a Manage billing button with a card icon. Press it and your browser moves, in the same tab, to the payment provider's own billing portal. The button appears once your account has a subscription status other than unpaid, and it is also shown to Pro accounts.

  4. Make your change in the portal

The portal is where payment methods, receipts and cancellation are handled. Your card details are entered there, never on The Wind Agent. What it offers on screen is controlled by that provider, so follow its prompts.

  5. Return to your account

When you finish, use the portal's return link and you land back on /account. Your plan label changes only when the payment provider confirms the change to us. If it does not change after a few minutes, read the plan-not-updated guide linked below.

Tip: Reload /account after returning; the page reads your plan when it loads.

01Where billing sits on the Account page

Everything about your subscription is in the Plan section. It shows the plan name, a Status line, and an "Included in your plan" list covering saved sites, forecast range and five features: email alerts, morning brief, fleet board, public boards and API access. Features your plan lacks show a link to the pricing page. Below that, an upgrade ladder offers the next plans up. The pricing page footnote says to cancel from Account then Billing; in practice that means the Manage billing button in the Plan section.

02What the portal is for

Manage billing hands you to the payment provider's hosted portal, created for your customer record at the moment you press the button. That is the only route in the product to update a card, look up receipts, or end a subscription. There is no cancel button on The Wind Agent itself. We do not see or store your card number. If you have never paid, there is no customer record and the button either does not appear or reports that no billing account exists.

03Cancelling

Cancel inside the portal. The pricing page says the plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for and nothing further is charged. When the provider tells us the subscription has ended, your account drops to Starter. Starter allows 3 saved sites, a 7-day forecast and no alerts, morning brief, fleet board or API keys. Nothing in the product deletes your saved sites or your frozen records when this happens. Records are public links that are kept for one year from the day you froze them.

04Changing plan

The upgrade ladder on /account has a "Pro · $19/mo" button for Starter accounts and an "Ops · $990/yr" button for Starter and Pro accounts. The pricing page also offers Pro at $149 a year. Those buttons open a checkout for the new plan. We cannot confirm from the product code that the billing portal itself lets you switch between plans, so use the account or pricing buttons for that, and see the upgrade guide linked below. Enterprise has no checkout; the pricing page sends you to the contact form.

05If a payment fails

The provider notifies you about failed payments. Where the billing paywall is switched on for the deployment, a plan counts as paid only while the subscription is active or in a trial. A subscription in any other state, such as past due, keeps its plan label but loses paid access, so site creation and alerts can stop until the card is fixed. Open Manage billing, update the card, then reload /account.

06If the portal does not open

Three messages can appear in red under the Plan section. "No billing account exists for this workspace." means we hold no customer record for you, which is normal if you have never completed a checkout. "Billing opens shortly" means billing is not yet connected on this deployment, and your account is saved. "Billing portal unavailable." means the provider did not answer; wait a minute and try again, and if it persists use the contact page.

Questions

Why can I not see a Manage billing button?

The button shows only when your account has a subscription status other than unpaid, or when your plan is Pro. A Starter account that has never been paid for has no billing customer record, so there is nothing to manage. In that case the Plan section offers "Start for $5/month" instead.

What happens to my sites and records if I cancel?

At the end of the paid period your plan returns to Starter. Nothing in the code deletes saved sites or frozen records. Starter allows 3 sites, and where the paywall is switched on an unpaid Starter account cannot add or edit sites until it is paid for again. Frozen records remain public by link for one year from the day they were frozen.

Where do I find my invoices?

Receipts and invoices are issued by the payment provider, not by The Wind Agent. Open Manage billing from the Plan section of /account and look for billing history in the portal. If the portal offers no history for your account, contact us through the contact page.

Can I change from monthly to annual in the portal?

We cannot confirm that from the product. The pricing page offers Pro as $19 a month or $149 a year, each through its own checkout button. If you want a different billing period, ask us through the contact page before buying a second subscription.

Where is the Billing section mentioned on the pricing page?

The pricing page footnote says to cancel from Account then Billing. There is no section by that name on /account. The path is /account, then the Manage billing button inside the Plan section.
