How to save a site (working point)

Save a working point on the Account page with a place, a site name, a type of work and an asset height, then name its limit on the alerts page. This guide covers adding, limits, removing, and how saved sites feed alerts and the fleet board.

Steps

  1. Open your Account page

Go to /account while signed in. If you are signed out you will see the sign-in form, so sign in or create an account first. The page lists Profile, Plan, Display preferences, Saved sites and API keys in order, and /account#sites jumps straight to the sites.

  2. Find Saved sites

The Saved sites heading has a counter beside it, such as 0/3, showing how many you hold out of your plan limit. An empty list reads "No working points yet." Press the Add site button to the right of the heading. It is disabled when you are at your limit.

  3. Search for the place

A panel headed "A new working point." opens. Type a town, port, course or site into the field labelled "Search a place" and press Enter or the search button. You need at least 2 characters. Up to 8 matches appear; choose one. If nothing matches you see "No match. Try a nearby town." and can try a nearby name.

  4. Fill in the three fields

Site name starts as the place name and can be up to 100 characters. Work is a list of crane, drone, spray, marine, golf, motorsport and events, and it starts at your current persona where one matches. Asset height / m takes a number from 1 to 500 and starts at that persona's usual height. Press "Change" beside the place to pick again.

  5. Save the site

Press "Save site". The sheet closes and the new row appears under Saved sites with its height, work type, "no rule" and coordinates. Then name its limit from your own document: use the pencil in the rule editor on /alerts, or on the fleet board if your plan includes it.

Tip: Saving needs a paid plan where the paywall is on; an unpaid Starter account is asked to start for $5/month first.

01What a saved site holds

A saved site is a name, a place, a type of work and a working height, plus an optional rule. The rule is the limit: the metric, the direction, the threshold and the source document, which is added later in the rule editor. Saving a site does not set a limit. Without a rule the site shows "no rule" on /account, an UNKNOWN lamp on the fleet board, and no lamp in the morning brief other than NO RULE.

02Limits by plan

Starter holds 3 sites, Pro 25, Ops 100 and Enterprise 500 or more by agreement. When you reach your limit the Add site button is disabled, and a note reads "Your plan holds N sites. Upgrade for more." with a link to the pricing page. If a request still reaches the server it is refused. To make room, remove a site or change plan. Where the paywall is switched on, an unpaid Starter account cannot save sites at all until it is paid.

03Opening a site in the instrument

Each row on /account has the site name as a link. It opens /app at that place with the name, work type and height filled in. The instrument does not list your saved sites on its own, and the link does not carry the limit, so set the limit in the top bar or open the site from the fleet board, which does carry it. Persona choice in the top bar and the Work type of a site are separate settings.

04Setting and changing the limit and height

The /account page has no edit button and no rename. After a site exists, open the rule editor from /alerts, where each site without a rule has a Set a rule button and each with a rule has a pencil. The editor includes the asset height, so changing a height happens there. It saves the rule and height together. The fleet board has the same pencil for Ops and Enterprise.

05Changing the name or location

There is no way to rename a site or move its pin from /account. If either is wrong, remove the site and add it again with the right values. You will lose its rule and alert settings, so note the limit, label and source document before removing, and enter them again in the rule editor.

06Removing a site

Use the bin button at the end of the row, labelled "Remove" with the site name. The browser asks "Remove name? Its rule and alerts go with it." Confirm and the site, its rule and its alert settings are deleted, and it drops off the fleet board and out of future alerts and briefs. The count goes down and a slot is free again. Records you froze earlier are not affected.

07How sites feed other features

Rule alerts and the morning brief both run over your saved sites with rules. The fleet board lists every saved site, but it needs an Ops or Enterprise plan to open. Starter and Pro accounts use /alerts to manage rules. Saved sites are not returned by the public API, which takes coordinates in each request. The agent can read your sites and, with your Confirm, propose a rule for an existing site, but it cannot create or delete a site.

Questions

Can I save a site without paying?

Only where the billing paywall is off for the deployment. Where it is on, saving needs a paid plan, and an unpaid account is invited to start Starter for $5 a month, which holds 3 sites. Using the instrument at /app needs no account.

What happens when I reach my site limit?

The Add site button is disabled and a note tells you the plan holds that many sites, with an upgrade link. You can remove a site to free a slot, or move to a larger plan. Starter 3, Pro 25, Ops 100, Enterprise 500.

Can I edit a saved site?

Not on /account. You can change its height and rule in the rule editor on /alerts, or on the fleet board. The name and the pin cannot be changed: remove the site and add it again.

Which work type should I choose?

Choose the one closest to your job: crane, drone, spray, marine, golf, motorsport or events. It sets how the link into the instrument opens, such as which persona preset is applied. It does not change the data or the limit, and you can still change the persona in the top bar at any time.

Is the working height important?

Yes. The wind shown for a site is read at that height, and the fleet board and brief use it. Heights from 1 to 500 m are accepted. Outside 10 to 180 m the value is extrapolated and labelled. The rule editor is where you change it later.
