How to use Golf mode
Use the Golf tab to see head and crosswind for every hole at its own tee time, with the odds of crosswind passing your limit. Covers the Clonmel pack, custom holes and what it will not do.

Steps
Open the Golf tab
In the instrument, find the Mode tabs in the lower part of the panel and click Golf, next to Point and Route. Choosing the Golf persona in the top bar opens it for you, and it is the default when nothing else is stored.
Pick the first tee hour
Click or drag on the time strip to the hour of your first tee. The box labelled First tee (scrubbed hour) is read-only and simply shows the hour you chose.
Tip: Golf mode only appears once the forecast and an hour have loaded.
Set minutes per hole
Type your pace in Minutes / hole. It accepts 5 to 30 and starts at 14. Hole 1 is at the first tee hour and each later hole is that many minutes after the one before.
Set your crosswind limit
Use the Limit stepper in the top bar. Golf mode has no limit of its own: it uses the same one, which starts at 8 mph on the Golf preset. Leave it empty if you do not want odds or EXCEED flags.
Check the course
Read the line at the top of the tab. Within 3 km of Clonmel Golf Club it says Tee sheet · Clonmel GC · beta vectors, verify · 10 m and lists that course's holes. Anywhere else it says Tee sheet · your bearings · 10 m and you add holes yourself.
Add your own holes
Away from Clonmel, fill in Hole (1 to 36), Bearing ° (0 to 359, tee to green, degrees true) and optionally Tee +min (0 to 400), then click the plus button, named Add hole. Repeat for each hole. Adding a number that already exists replaces it.
Tip: Remove a hole with the X button on its row, named Remove hole and its number.
Read the rows
Look at Worst cross first, then at the HOLE rows, one per hole, for the tee time, head, cross, gust and odds figures described below.
01What each row shows
Each row reads like HOLE 4 · 245° · tee 10:42 · head 6 · cross 3 R · gust10 14 · P(cross>8) 22%. That gives the hole, its tee-to-green bearing, the tee time, the headwind and crosswind components from the mean 10 m wind, the 10 m gust and the odds that crosswind passes your limit. A negative head figure is a tailwind. R and L show the side the crosswind comes from relative to the line of play, right or left. The hour used is the forecast hour in which that hole's tee time falls, so later holes read later hours. If a crosswind passes your limit the row ends with EXCEED.
02Worst cross
The Worst cross line names the hole with the largest crosswind in the round, for example HOLE 7 · 11 R · 11:12, with the tee time and EXCEED when it is over your limit. It uses the same rows as the list, so it follows any change to first tee, minutes per hole or limit. It is a quick pointer to where the round is most exposed, nothing more.
03The odds figure
The percentage after P(cross>limit) is worked out from the 10 m ensemble speed spread for that hour, with the wind direction held at the primary model's direction. The tab labels it an approximation. It shows a dash if no limit is set or if the loaded ensemble is not the 10 m speed one, in which case the tab adds the note that the loaded ensemble is not 10 m speed. Like the main readout, it is a raw count of forecast members and not a calibrated probability. See how to read P(>limit).
04Clonmel's built-in holes and custom holes
The Clonmel pack's bearings carry a beta label, so verify them against the club's course map before relying on them. Away from Clonmel, your hole list is stored in this browser for that place, so it is there next time you visit the same spot, but not on another device. Custom holes show bearing, wind and odds only: there is no par, yardage, course search or import.
05What Golf mode will not do
Golf mode gives components, not shot advice. There is no club recommendation and the agent will refuse to give one. Components are always the mean 10 m wind, and the height is fixed at 10 m for play. A message Tee times fall outside the forecast hours. appears if the first tee hour or the minutes per hole push every hole beyond the forecast. It is a planning aid, and the freeze action on this tab copies up to the first 18 hole lines into the record, see how to freeze a record.
Questions
What does Tee times fall outside the forecast hours mean?
None of your holes have a forecast hour to read, because the first tee is too close to the end of the forecast. Pick an earlier first tee on the time strip. Anonymous visitors and Starter accounts have 7 days of forecast, and Pro and Ops have 16.
Can Golf mode tell me which club to use?
No. It reports wind components and the odds of crosswind passing your limit. Club choice depends on your game, and nothing in the instrument or the agent will recommend one.
Why do the numbers differ from hole to hole?
Each hole has its own bearing, so the same wind splits differently into head and cross. Each hole also has its own tee time, so later holes read later forecast hours.
Can I change the 10 m height?
No. Golf mode always uses mean wind at 10 m for components and the 10 m gust. The Height stepper does not change what the tab calculates.
What is the difference between Clonmel GC and your bearings?
Within 3 km of Clonmel Golf Club the tab loads a built-in set of holes labelled as beta vectors. Anywhere else it starts empty and shows Tee sheet · your bearings, and you enter each hole's bearing. See Golf, crosswind and aviation for the background.
