How to use Cab mode
Cab mode is a read-only screen at /cab with one big number, a lamp and four rows, built from the last forecast the instrument saved on your device. It refreshes when you open it or press Refresh.

Steps
Load the instrument once
Open /app while online and let the forecast load for your place, height and limit. Cab mode copies the last forecast from there, about a second and a half after anything changes. If you open /cab first you see No cached packet yet. with a button, Open the instrument.
Open Cab mode
Go to /cab, or press Open cab mode at the foot of the inspector in /app. Open /cab once while online too, so the page itself is stored on your device for later.
Read the banner
The banner at the top says LIVE with a time when the data has just been refreshed, or CACHED with a time and not live when it is using the stored copy. Beside CACHED it adds Offline, Refreshing or a refresh failed message. The time is when the copy was saved.
Read the number and the lamp
Under the place line, persona and banner, the big number is the wind at your working height in the unit saved from /app, with its direction and the 10 m gust. The lamp word below it is GO, WATCH, STOP, UNKNOWN or NO LIMIT.
Read the four rows
Now at height gives the value and the height. Next exceed hour says when the ensemble first reaches 40% against your limit. P(>limit) gives the odds for this hour with the member count. Your threshold gives your limit or not set.
Refresh or go to the full view
Press Refresh when you have signal to fetch a new forecast and ensemble and rewrite the stored copy. It also runs once on its own when the page opens online. Full instrument goes to /app, where height, limit, unit and persona can be changed.
01What Cab mode is
Cab mode is a single-purpose page for a cab, a vehicle or a site hut, with large buttons and no map, charts or time strip. It shows one large number for the wind at your working height, the lamp, and four rows of figures. It reads the last forecast the instrument at /app stored in this browser, so it shows the place, height, limit, unit and persona you last had there. It has no controls for any of them. Change them in /app, and Cab picks them up. It does not have the agent, a freeze button, the top bar or the left rail.
02The banner and the lamp
The banner reads LIVE with a time after a successful refresh, or CACHED with a time and not live when it is using the stored copy. The time is when the copy was saved, not the clock now. The status can add Offline, Refreshing or a refresh failed message with the reason. The lamp shows the same words as the instrument: GO, WATCH, STOP, UNKNOWN, or NO LIMIT when you have not set a limit. See lamps: GO, WATCH, STOP.
03The four rows
Now at height shows the modelled value for the current hour in your unit with the working height. It is a forecast, not a sensor reading. Next exceed hour is worked out from the ensemble and not from a single line. It shows the first hour from now when the share of members over your limit reaches 40%, in site time. If this hour is already at 40% or more it begins with NOW and gives the hour it first falls under 40%, or says none is in the window. P(>limit) is the share of members over your limit this hour, with received over expected members, or a dash and no ensemble. Your threshold shows your limit or not set. See read P(>limit).
04Working with poor or no signal
The copy on your device holds the forecast, ensemble and nearest observation from the last time /app or Cab refreshed. If the device reports it is offline when you open Cab, you get CACHED and Offline with the saved time. Cab then shows the stored hour for the current time. The copy covers about a week from when it was saved, since a refresh from Cab fetches seven days. Once the current hour is past the end of the copy, Cab shows The cached forecast no longer covers this hour. with UNKNOWN and a prompt to refresh. Nothing there is current. The page does not refresh by itself on a timer, only when it opens and when you press Refresh.
05Changing place, height or limit
There is nowhere on Cab to change them. Go to Full instrument, set the place, working height and limit, wait for the forecast to load, then return to /cab. The limit is only shown as it was last saved. If it reads not set, the rows that need a limit show dashes or a prompt. Cab does not follow a different persona unless you switched it in /app. If you freeze a record or save a rule, do it from /app.
06When something looks wrong
If the number looks old, check the banner. CACHED means it is the stored copy. Press Refresh with signal. If it says refresh failed, the reason is shown, and the stored copy stays on screen. If the place is wrong, you last had a different place in the instrument, so open /app and change it. If the lamp reads UNKNOWN or the P(>limit) row has a dash, the ensemble did not load for this limit. See unknown and missing data.
07What Cab mode is not
It is not an observation and not an alarm. It shows modelled values, an ensemble share against your own limit and the same footer note as the instrument, that it is a modelled forecast and that probabilities are uncalibrated member fractions. Your limit comes from your own document and the decision is yours.
Questions
What does No cached packet yet mean?
Cab mode has nothing stored on this device. Open the instrument at /app once while online, let the forecast load, then return to /cab.
How often does Cab mode refresh?
Once when the page opens with a connection, and again whenever you press Refresh. It does not refresh on a timer, so a page left open for hours shows the time it was last saved.
Can I change my working height in Cab mode?
No. Cab uses the height from the last time you used /app. Change it there, wait for the forecast to load, then reopen Cab.
Is the wind in Cab mode an observation?
No. It is a modelled forecast for the current hour at your working height. The instrument adds the nearest station report beside it. Cab holds the same data but does not show the observation line.
What does P(>limit) mean here?
It is the share of ensemble members over your limit at the current hour, shown with received over expected members. It is a plain fraction and is not calibrated. It shows a dash when there is no limit or no ensemble.
