Why does the agent ask me to press Confirm?

The agent only proposes two actions, saving a rule and freezing a record. Nothing is written until you press Confirm on the card in the panel.

01Two actions wait for you

The agent fetches data, checks it against your limit and explains it. When you ask it to save a rule on one of your sites, or to freeze the packet on screen, it does not do either by itself. It returns a card in the panel with a bold title and a line of detail, and the action only happens when you press Confirm. The agent is also told to say "Press Confirm to save it" and never to claim something is saved before you do. If the agent ever says a rule is saved and there is no card showing a result, treat it as not saved and check the card.

02What the two cards look like

A rule card is titled Save rule on followed by the site name. The detail line shows the label, the metric (gust or speed), the comparison, the limit in mph, the working height and your source document. A freeze card is titled Freeze this packet as a record? and its detail line says it writes an immutable, public brief with a link, and that it is not a live forecast once frozen. The freeze button has a padlock icon and the rule button has a tick. While the request runs the button reads Saving…. When it finishes the button disappears and the card shows the result in place.

03Saving a rule

A rule can only be saved on a site you have already saved on your account. The agent cannot create a site, and it cannot guess a limit. Ask it something like "set a gust limit of 25 mph on my Clonmel site", check the card, then press Confirm. The result line reads "Saved on" followed by the site name, the label, the metric, the comparison, the limit in mph and the height. You need to be signed in, and on a plan that can save sites if plan limits are switched on for your account. If the save fails, the card shows the server message in red, for example that you need to sign in, and Confirm stays on the card so you can try again.

04Saving a rule does not switch on emails

The agent only saves the rule and, if you gave one, the working height. It does not touch email alerts. After you confirm, open /alerts, press the pencil on that site and tick the box that emails you when the forecast breaches the rule. Email alerts start on Pro, so on Starter you can keep the rule for the fleet and instrument checks but no alert email is sent. See how alerts work for what the alert checks.

05Freezing a record

A freeze only works where there is a packet on screen, which means the instrument at /app. The agent freezes what you are looking at, for the hour you have selected, and always records it as a Point view, even if you were on the Route or Golf tab. When you press Confirm the card shows the record link and the record is added to your list at /records on this browser. A record is public to anyone with the link and cannot be edited or deleted. Freezing does not need an account. If you ask for a freeze when no packet is on screen, the agent replies that no packet is bound and tells you to open /app on the hour you want. On pages such as the fleet board a card can appear, but Confirm then fails with "No packet on this page to freeze." See freeze a record.

06Two things that do not use Confirm

Two other actions take effect straight away. If you ask the agent to turn the morning brief on or off, or move its hour, it changes the setting at once and reports what it saved. It only does this when you ask. The brief is only sent on Pro and above, so a Starter account can hold the setting but receives nothing. The agent also stores a short fact such as "my jib is 85 m" without a card when you tell it to remember something. Both are covered in how the agent remembers.

07There is no Cancel button

The card has no Cancel or Dismiss button. If you do not want the change, ignore the card and carry on. Nothing is saved. Cards live in the open page only. Reloading or opening another page loses any card you did not confirm, so ask again if you come back to it later. To change a rule you already saved, open /alerts and use the pencil on the site, or ask the agent for the new value and confirm the new card. The new rule replaces the old one.

08If Confirm does nothing

If the card stays on Saving… or shows red text, read the red text first. It is the message from the server. Common ones are that you are not signed in, that the site cannot be found, or that saving needs an active paid account. If there is no message at all, check your connection and press Confirm again. If the agent answered with a card but you never see a result line, the request has not finished. Open /records or /alerts afterwards to see whether the record or rule exists before you repeat it.

Questions

Why does the agent not save my rule automatically?

A saved rule drives your alerts and your fleet lamps, so the agent only proposes it. You see the exact label, metric, limit and height on the card, and nothing is written until you press Confirm. That way a misheard number cannot quietly become your limit.

What happens if I close the panel without pressing Confirm?

Nothing is saved. The card is only a proposal held in the page. Closing the panel does not confirm it, and reloading the page removes it. If you want the change, ask again and press Confirm.

Can the agent change a site or add a new one?

No. The agent can only save a rule, and a working height with it, on a site that already exists on your account. Adding, renaming or removing a site is done on the account page. The agent also cannot change your plan, units, persona or alert settings.

Does pressing Confirm cost anything?

Confirm itself has no charge. Saving a rule needs a signed-in account, and where plan limits are switched on it needs a paid plan, because saving sites and rules is part of the plan. Freezing a record does not need an account.

Why do I get No packet on this page to freeze?

The agent can only freeze the packet you are looking at in the instrument. Open /app, wait for the forecast to load, pick the hour you want, then ask again. The record is always saved as a Point view when it is frozen from the agent. To freeze the Route or Golf view, use the Freeze record button in the instrument itself.
