Steps

  1. Open the Records page

Go to /records. Under the heading The record stands. it lists the records you froze in this browser, newest first. You can also reach it from the Your records button on a record-not-found page.

Tip: The list lives only in this browser. A record frozen on another phone or computer will not appear here.

  2. Open a record from the list

Find the row you want. Each row shows RECORD and its id, the place name, when it was issued and the words not a live forecast, plus the verdict if one was saved. Click View record.

  3. Or open a record from a link or id

In the box labelled Record link or id, paste a full record link or just the ten-character id, then click Open record. The button stays disabled until the box holds a valid id.

Tip: The id is the last ten characters of the link, made of lower-case letters a to z and the digits 2 to 7.

  4. Share the link

On the record page click Share. Where your device offers a share sheet it opens; otherwise the link is copied and the button changes to Link copied. In the instrument, the link is also copied automatically when you freeze, and a Copy record link button sits next to it.

  5. Download the packet

Click Packet on the record page to save the full record as a file named wind-record-, then the id, then .json. Keep that file if you need the raw numbers.

  6. Tidy your list if you wish

Click the X on a row, labelled Forget record with its id, to remove it from this list. That only clears the entry on this device.

02Who can open a record

Anyone who has the link can open the record, signed in or not. There is no sign-in, no ownership check and no way to restrict a link to named people. Treat the link as public: do not send it where you would not want a stranger to read the place, hour, height and limit it shows. A record can also be shown as a compact public board at /embed followed by the id, through the Public board link on the record page.

03What the Records page does and does not know

The Records page is a convenience list built from this browser's own storage, holding up to your 200 most recent freezes. It is not tied to your account, it is not synced between devices and it does not check with the server. Clearing your browser data or switching browser empties it. Forgetting a row does not delete anything: the note on the page says so, and anyone with the link can still open the record. If you want to keep a record permanently on your own side, save the link in your own notes or download the packet.

04What viewers see on the record page

The record page shows the place, area and coordinates, the issue time, the forecast hour in site time, the recorded wind and gust at the working height, the odds against your limit, a verdict lamp of GO, WATCH or STOP with its text, the wind profile and any frozen ensemble fan, the nearest observation if one was included, a provenance table and links to open the same place live in the instrument or as a public board. Speeds appear in the unit of the work type the record was frozen under, not the viewer's own unit. The footer says it is a modelled forecast, not an on-site observation and not a go-ahead.

05How long records last

Records are stored for 365 days. After that, or if the id is wrong, the address shows No record at this address. with the explanation that the record does not exist or has expired and that records are kept for one year. If you need evidence beyond that, download the packet while the record is still available. See why a record link says it does not exist.

Questions

What is a record id?

It is a ten-character code, using the letters a to z and the digits 2 to 7, that forms the end of the record's address. Pasting a whole link or only the id into the Records page works equally well.

Can someone without an account open my record?

Yes. The link is public and needs no account. They see the frozen numbers and the lamp, not live data.

Is a shared record a live forecast?

No. It is a snapshot of the moment you froze it and every page carries the words not a live forecast. To see the same place now, use the link on the record page that opens it live in the instrument.

Can I delete a record?

Not from the Records page. The X forgets the entry on this device only, and the record stays open to anyone with the link until it expires after a year. There is no delete button for the server copy.

Where is my record if I froze it on another device?

The list on /records is stored per browser, so the entry is on the device where you froze it. If you still have the link, paste it into the Record link or id box on this device and click Open record.
